Have you ever wondered what kind of girls are the best in bed? If you can beat a breathalyzer? How teeny a bikini can get before it’s legally considered nudity? If you have, you might want to check out “MANswers: The Best of Season One” for the answer. If the title and the questions above weren’t a big enough clue, this is obviously a title meant for “manly” men and women will get little or no enjoyment out of it.

“MANswers: The Best of Season One” contains the top 25 questions answered during the first season. Many of the questions involve chicks (specifically their boobs) while others deal with booze, death and danger, and drugs. Since I’m not exactly the “manly” man the DVD is intended for, I didn’t get a lot of enjoyment out of most of them. I honestly don’t care “how you can get high legally” or if you can take the “dump of death.”

If any of the questions mentioned in this review interest you, “MANswers” is probably a worthwile purchase. I personally didn’t get much enjoyment out of it but I’m not in the very specific target audience, “manly men.”

Review-Holding Trevor

“Holding Trevor” opens in New York and Los Angeles today

“Holding Trevor” is a solid though unspectacular gay film. The film is about Trevor (Brent Gorski, who also wrote the film), a gay man whose boyfriend Darrell (Christopher Wylie) is an addict. The two have broken up but Trevor just can’t let him go, even when Darrell is admitted to the hospital after an overdose. There, a hunky ER doctor named Ephram spots Trevor and pursues him.

I’m not gay so I’m not exactly in the target audience for “Holding Trevor” but I still thought the film was decent. It is obvious that the film is incredibly low-budget but for this type of film it isn’t a big deal. None of the cast members stand out (though none are weak links either) but the chemistry amongst them is quite good. Unfortunately, the script is loaded with bitchy remarks that quickly become annoying.

While “Holding Trevor” is meant for a very specific audience, fans of gay cinema should enjoy themselves. However, I wouldn’t recommend the film to anybody else.

Review-”Shaggy & Scooby-Doo Get a Clue!: Volume 2″

“Shaggy & Scooby-Doo Get a Clue!: Volume 2″-Own it on DVD July 8, 2008

  • Release Date: July 8, 2008
  • Price: $8.99 on Amazon.com
  • Rated: Not Rated
  • Run Time: 84 Minutes
  • Publisher: Warner Bros.
  • Genre: Animation, Children’s
  • Features: 4 Episodes
  • Buy It on Amazon.com

“Shaggy & Scooby-Doo Get a Clue!” is the tenth incarnation of the seemingly never-ending “Scooby-Doo” franchise. While it isn’t nearly as good as the classic cartoons, its still a decent cartoon for today’s children.

The basic premise of the show is that Shaggy’s rich Uncle Albert Shaggleford disappears, leaving Shaggy in control of his huge estate. With some of his inheritance, he has upgraded the Mystery Machine with the ability to transform into a number of different vehicles. Shaggy and Scooby-Doo must stop the evil plans of villains like Dr. Phibes with their new technology and improved Scooby Snacks. Unfortunately, this means an end to the mystery-solving angle the franchise is known for.

Unsurprisingly, the series is geared towards children. It isn’t a bad show for kids but I would probably show kids the much better original series first. The lack of a mystery element is easily the most disappointing aspect of the show. When the franchise is mostly known for its mysteries, its a bit surprising and disappointing to see it gone.

The characters are also designed a bit differently. Personally, I thought the old versions looked better. Other than the character models, I have no complaints with the visuals. They look very nice and they should since the series debuted in 2006. The voice acting is also fine thought not on par with the original series.

While “Shaggy & Scooby-Doo Get a Clue” can’t compete with the original series, it is still a solid cartoon that most children should enjoy.
