To get you ready for the release of the fourth “Indiana Jones” movie “Kingdom of the Crystal Skull”, Paramount is releasing a collection suitably named “The Adventure Collection”. The Adventure Collection gives you all three prior movies and a boatload of special features (see above).

Pretty much everyone has probably see at least one of the Indiana Jones movies so I won’t spend a lot of time on the stories. I would like to mention that I actually wasn’t even born when the first two movies were on theaters and I was 1 when the third movie was on theaters. While I never got to see the movies on theaters and waited several years afterward to actually see them for the first time, I still really like the Indiana Jones series. In my opinion the movie does a good job staying entertaining even as the movie itself has aged. I believe all the movies were very good and every action/adventure fan should enjoy them at least a little.

Now we will move onto the cinematics portion of this DVD set. Almost all of these movies are over 20 years old so you need to take that into consideration when you grade the cinematics. To be honest I thought the video quality on these DVDs was great especially for over 20 year old movies. Obviously some of the special effects are outdated and this DVD collection doesn’t spruce them up. Despite the special effects you can’t ask for much more as far as video quality for a 20 year old movie.

The acting in the movie is very good. Harrison Ford does a great job as Indiana Jones. The supporting cast is good as well. There isn’t really much to say about the acting since most of you have probably seen the movies already.

One of the biggest reasons to buy this DVD set is the special features. You will definitely get a lot of special features in this set.  As you can see from the times above, you get over an hour and half of special features. You can’t really complain about that. You also really can’t complain about the quality either. They are all pretty entertaining and most of them contain footage of the creating the movies and on the set footage. I am personally not a huge fan of special features but I have to say that the special features in this movie are top-notch.

I am going to have a hard time not recommending this to almost everyone. If you didn’t like the Indiana Jones movies you obviously won’t like this DVD set. The only other people I believe won’t like this set are people who already own the movies on DVD and are not fans of special features. I believe these people won’t like the set since the only real difference between this set and other DVD releases of the movie is the special features and if you could care less about special features there is no point of rebuying the DVDs. If you don’t already own the movies on DVD or want more special features you can’t go wrong with this set.

My Rating: ★★★★½
