Chris Langan (the “smartest man in America”):
- Q1: “You’ve made a number 2 - a dixon Ticonderoga number 2 what yellow school supply have you just manufactured? A. A lunchbox, B. A notebook, C. A pencil” He quickly locks in with C and is correct. Only one mob member got the question wrong.
- Q2: “In 1999, which make of taxicab was retired from New York City streets?” A. Chess, B. Checker, C. Backgammon” He goes with B and is correct. Again, only one player got the question wrong.
- Q3: “Not counting that dwarf Pluto which planet in our solar system has only one moon? A. Earth, B. Mercury, C. Venus” He answers A and is correct again. 2 people got the question wrong.
- Q4: “John Denver’s “Rocky Mountain High” is one of the two official songs of what U.S. state? A. Montana, B. Colorado, C. Arizona” He goes with B and is correct again. Only three players got the question wrong.
- Q5: “Which of the Beatles was born Richard Starkley? A. John Lennon, B. Paul McCartney, C. Ringo Starr” He correctly locks in with C. Just two people got it wrong.
- Q6: “Which item is prohibited from being sold on eBay’s U.S. website? A. Used make-up, B. Used airplanes, C. Used adult DVDs” He decides to trust the mob. The majority of the mob picked A. That answer is correct; 52 players were eliminated (that has to be a record). 39 people picked A while 38 chose C so he came very close to being eliminated.
- Q7: “Ronco president Ron Popeil invented which product? A. Pocket fisherman, B. Pocket businessman, C. Pocket handyman” He guesses A and is correct. 16 people got the question wrong and Chris is now at the $100,000 level.
- Q8: “In the Abbott and Costello routine “who’s on first,” what is the second baseman’s name? A. Who, B. What, C. I Don’t Know” He decides to ask the mob. #23 picked A while #46 chose B. Choice C is eliminated. Since neither of them were very confident, Chris uses a second help; poll the mob. 20/23 players picked B. He goes with B and is correct. 3 players were eliminated and Chris reaches the $250,000 level.
- He takes his $250,000 and runs.
Rose Marie Pesci:
- Q1: “A Grammy award is shaped like what object? A. A megaphone, B. A microphone, C. A gramophone” She needs help and polls the mob on A. Only 10 people chose that answer so she needs to use another help. She decides to trust the mob. They picked C so she is locked into that answer. That is the correct answer. 26 people got the question wrong.
- Q2: “At the end of “Joe Millionaire” the truth came out that Evan Marriott actually did what for a living? A. Brain surgery, B. Construction work, C. Bikini waxing” She uses her last help (ask the mob). #64 chose A while #43 picked B. She goes with B, the correct answer. Only 3 mob members got the question wrong.
- Q3: “According to the American Heart Association, beans, beans are good for the heart, the more you eat, the more you what? A. Lower your cholesterol, B. Lower your peptides, C. Lower your sperm count” She goes with A and is correct. 8 mob members answered incorrectly.
- Q4: “IF you like big hooter, check into the 29,000 square foot Hooters Casino Hotel in which city? A. Atlantic City, B. Biloxi, C. Las Vegas” She just has to guess and goes with C. That is the correct answer, 16 people got the question wrong getting Rose Marie to the $50,000 level.
